Wait, Weight, Please stop me

*Individual results may vary with hypnosis and are dependent on many variables
including the client’s attitude, follow-through and adherence to the program. Certain issues or concerns may require a medical referral before any session in hypnosis.

Dateline NBC ran a weight loss contest comparing six people using different weight lose methods: Hypnosis, the Atkins Diet, a personal coach, Weight Watchers, the low-fat USDA food pyramid and Slim Fast.  Though the greatest number of pounds were lost using the Atkins Diet, after 80 pounds the participant was reportedly limping and suffering from a painful case of gout; lost a lot of weight but it doesn’t sound like fun to me.

Most remarkable was Marc, a Boston pastry chef who selected hypnosis.  Marc lost 37 pounds and reportedly seemed to have experienced the greatest physical, mental and emotional ease in the process.  If a pastry chef can do it, anyone can.

Hypnosis for weight loss assists individuals in better understanding their eating habits and to identify goals that become significantly more important than comfy foods, over eating or bad choices.  Being slimmer and more energized becomes more important than eating; self satisfaction and fulfillment is no longer located in the stomach but in feelings of being lighter, fitter and more attractive.  For some, mastering their eating is regaining control of their life; new habits and behaviors developed in hypnosis can lead to the achievement and goals and satisfactions that can last forever.

A habit is formed when we repeatedly behave in a particular way to a certain cue.  The cue stimulates a thought of a particular reward, the behavior and then the result.  Kind of like smelling the caramel coming from the candy store and a thought of having some comes to our mind, images of a particular sweet, the mouth waters, we want some and we enter the store; it’s all subconscious.

Whenever we drift away in music, with a good book or drive by our exit on the highway, we are allowing our creative, subconscious mind to take over for a moment, abdicating thinking from the more deliberative, comparative, analytical part of the mind.  Hypnosis is all about accessing the subconscious part of ourselves in order to change our reaction to old cues into responses which stimulate new habits in order to achievement more beneficial rewards.

The hypnotist is simply a motivational guide, kind of like a limo driver, the passenger tells the chauffer where they wish to go and rests back, watching the scenery, daydreaming in an internal dialogue.  Our Wellspring Hypnosis weight loss program provides our clients with CDs, techniques and post hypnotic suggestions for ongoing motivation to achieve their new goals and aspirations.

Hypnosis is not magic but some of the things you can accomplish with hypnosis may seem magical.
